Default Email / Newsletter ...

It appears that the weekly newsletter tends to go out on late Saturday night / Early Sunday morning ... is there a reason that this day was chosen?

It seems that this is the time that the "fun" is over and the impulse buy is missed ... but I'm very interested to hear any statistics about this time / day.

I thought I read a couple years ago that Wednesday - Friday were the most converting days

I also noticed there is not a call to action in the title / header of the email many times, and it would be nice if the from portion of the header used the url it was associated with instead of the generic "Adult Product Store" (for me Discrete Sensations) ... I have taken the time to brand that and think it would help conversions.

Two other things that I have used when I had my own cart ... and it paid back ... were to 1st and for most send an email to customers that abandon their shopping cart (usually 2 days after), just a simple reminder that the items are still in the cart. Also an email campaign that uses what the person was already looking at in the store as part of the weekly email (like Amazon does) ... I never got around to implementing the newsletter that uses items they recently looked at but have fell for it with companies that do use it.

I'm opening this thread because it appears that my conversion (quick look at Google Anal) is 0% from the emails for December ... now I will be the first to say ... there is plenty of traffic click in through the email and they could be bookmarking and coming back "direct" ... so I'm in NO WAY implying the newsletter is not important and helping ... I'm purely looking at ways to hone it in to get conversions.

Good suggestions. I'm passing this on to the email marketing team.

I do know that we were at one point sending out emails to customers who had added items, and then abandoned their carts. I'm not sure what the results were, or if we are still doing this. I think part of it is that many customers don't sign up to be contacted which prevents us from emailing them.

Passing this on...

Yes ... that is the catch to that ... the nice part though is when you use a cookie to recognize your customer ... this is where this worked best ...

meaning I had a customer that actually completed a transaction / checkout ... then a couple months later they are shopping and place items in their cart ... without logging in ... then they just abandon the cart ... well I send them an email saying "your stuff is still in the cart" ... since they were a previous customer they are more likely to buy and I already have their email from the cookie recognizing them.

Hi Dan O

Here is the response from our email team:

It seems that this is the time that the "fun" is over and the impulse buy is missed ... but I'm very interested to hear any statistics about this time / day.

> Email send-out time is optimized by time and day of the week according to each subscriber. Our email service calculates the send-out time based on the subscriber's behavior.

I also noticed there is not a call to action in the title / header of the email many times, and it would be nice if the from portion of the header used the url it was associated with instead of the generic "Adult Product Store" (for me Discrete Sensations) ... > This is something that we would prefer to do over "Adult Product Store" but our technology doesn't allow customization of the send name for each affiliate at this time.

> We send out abandoned cart emails within 2 hours of cart abandonment with a link back to their cart and have a second abandoned cart email in the works.

> We are working on ways to personalize the contents of each email according to what the subscriber has clicked on. Thank you for the feedback. We appreciate your input.

I don't understand this statement ... because it seems the statement is saying that if the person signed up on Friday, that is the day they will get their email ... Yet according to GA there is a HUGE surge on Saturday night ... so the only way this could be is because the list I gave was "imported" on that day ... OR ... I don't understand the statement. ... and if it is functioning based on the day they signed up ... is it actually sending by deducting a day or two from their sign up so that it reminds them before thee day they would purchase. Further has this type of weekly email been shown to work better then the "generic" send it on Thursday that most of the "big chains" seem to do?

Is this on the 2 do list?

When I was playing with this It seemed the 2 hours was too soon ... and that 18 - 48 hours seemed better ... hell I've watch people leave their browser window open to the site for 2 hours.

That would be great.
