Default STCtoCart Software

Hello All,

STCtoCart works with all three major shopping carts: Zen v1.3.8a thru v1.3.9d, osCommerce v2.2, and CRE Loaded v6.3 with provisions for the upcoming OSC3 and Zen2 shopping carts when they finally get out of beta status.

STCtoCart has many of the features that the original STCtoZen had, with major improvements for speed.

Some Features:
  • Choose from different STC data feeds to use
  • Creates Categories and Manufactures
  • Image management - Choose Location to Upload images from, Identiify and Remove Missing, Remove Unused, and or Delete All.
  • Remove discontinued Items
  • Update Out of Stock Items
  • Add product attributes
  • Add Sextoy.com product reviews
  • Run by Cron to auto update your Shopping Cart's database.
  • Profit Margin guarantee
  • Price Change's by Percentage or Flat rate based on Wholesale or Retail.
  • Major new feature is the ability to use STC's API to submit an order, check status of an existing order or check stock availability. STCtoCart communicates directly with STC's web site with the login information you provide it.

Default STCtoPresta Software

Hello All,

STC to PrestaShop software is now available for purchase. PrestaShop is an up and coming Open Source shopping cart with many great features and modules already built in. They claim over 40,000 stores worldwide in only three years of existence. STCtoPresta software module is designed to work with PrestaShop v1.3.1.1 which is currently the latest version.

A few Features:
  • Creates Data Sheet for products that have the information
  • Creates Tags for products, which helps SEO categorize many products based on a common word in the product name.
  • Create image csv file so that PrestaShop's own import engine can create the 6 images required per product. Multiple images used if they are provided in the data feed fields Image2, Image3, Image4.
  • Create category names based on STC's category structure, with some slight modifications for duplicate names.
  • Block whole categories or individual products you may not want to sell.
  • Choose from 2 main Data Feeds, provided by STC (stc-02.csv and eld-02.csv).
  • Auto run with crontab.
  • Completely run from PrestaShop admin back end.
  • Cron run for product feed based on file age, which allows for better and more accurate updates as needed.
  • Move products that are in categories that already have sub categories.

  • Holiday Specials - Add products for up to 18 specific holiday's and enter the number of day's you want the special to run before the holiday.

  • STC API connection for sending orders and getting the status of orders is now available. Requires a specifc setup for shipping carrier names used in PrestaShop

Default Customizing?

I like the idea of the STCtoPresta, especially because it will give me more time to play. I checked out the demo online, i only saw what it looks like from the back door, what will my customers see?? Can it be customized to match my website, such as putting a logo up and changing the background colors. Could I add some of my own products, such as a t-shirt line and my panties?
Thanks!

At the top of the PrestaShop back-end is a Quick Access drop down, this is where they put a link to the front end. It is named in the drop down " My Shop".

The online demo just has the default PrestaShop theme installed. However there are many free and paid for themes available online. The Prestastore is the official place to pay for themes, however there are many free themes available by doing a Google search online. I'll add a couple free themes today so people can view different looks.

All theme's can be modified to have your own logo and colors. If you already have a web site and want it to match, then the key would be to find a theme that has the basic color scheme you have so you don't have to make as many modifications to the PrestaShop theme.

Short answer yes! I designed STCtoPresta to have minimal changes to the product database. Even discontinued items are not deleted from the database, they are only marked as inactive so they don't show up. Once you've set STCtoPresta in "Update Only" mode then only new products will be added from the STC data feeds. So you can add all the custom Categories / Product line you want.

EDIT: Added a few free themes, view by clicking Preferences > Appearance select theme and save.

Default Shopping Cart

I have read a lot of the posts regarding Zen and Presta. If I am brand new and starting from scratch, which one would reccomend that I start with?

Hello Gobigcity,

Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I'll try to list a few.

PrestaShop PROS:

1. Very nice back office, easy to use and learn.

2. Excellent and easy 3rd party module installation system.

3. Very good built in statistic system in back office.

4. Regular updates and features added. Beta version 1.4 boasts of single page checkout very desirable for your customers.

5. Newer code, with Ajax support. Flying update of product being added to cart is neat.

PrestaShop CONS:

1. Not USA centric, developed by French software engineers. So addresses are European and no UPS or USPS support. 3rd party modules limited in this area.

2. Poor image management system, their import of images will make up to 6 copies for each product. Can take over 5 hours to copy all images from STC feeds.

3. Template system not as robust, web sites look very much alike. A bit slower due to setup. CSS file alone is over 64KB.

Zen Cart PROS:

1. Been around longer, tons of 3rd party modules and support. Can do most anything you can think of.

2. Better template system. Can make your web site unique if you have the html / CSS expertise.

3. Better image management, just upload one large image per product and have 3rd party modules resize automatically for various web pages.

Zen Cart CONS:

1. Version 2.0 has been promised since Dec 2008 very discouraging. Current version 1.3.9h was update from v1.3.9b in about 3 months time, because of Security fixes and various bugs. Also doesn't inspire confidence.

2. Adding 3rd party modules can be very hard for a newbie, not for the technically challenged.

3. High learning curve for back office, can be very confusing to the newbie.

4. Poor built in statistics, you'll have to rely on Google Analytics more.

I'd actually recommend ZenCart for the beginner. Yes is has a learning curve (what doesn't?), but support is great and you can practically find any answer via Google since it's probably already answered on the forums. Or if you can't, just ask and someone will definitely help you.

And as mentioned there are many more FREE 3rd party modules available. Once you grasp the concept of installing them, it's all very repetitive.

Constant updates should not be viewed as a negative, it means that you'll be protected against the latest threats hackers are using.

There's also third party modules available for statistics if you don't want to solely rely on Google Analytics.

I have both Presta and ZenCart sites, both look great and do the job, but I definitely have to recommend ZenCart

Default Carts

Thanks guys
I really appreciate the feedback. Does anybody know how the sites using datafeeds compare in SEO to the affiliate sites?

Usually much better, you control the content, meta tags and with 3rd party SEO URL's you'll have more control over the product links too.

If you go with Zen Cart I highly recommend:

http://dev.ceon.net/web/zen-cart/uri-mapping

for your product links.

For PrestaShop here is a link to some modules that do the same. I can't recommend any of them because I've never used any of them.
