Exclamation Notice of major changes to Category Structure.

To All,

There will be many changes to the category structure starting the 1st week of November. We will be streamlining the 31 main parent categories down to a more manageable 10 main categories. There will also be many changes to the sub category and sub sub category names, too many to list here.

The data feeds will automatically reflect these changes as they happen. Changes should be complete by the end of next week, you can keep an eye of the new category structure at STC as they happen.

Once the changes are complete I would recommend you start with a fresh database for your shopping cart so that all new category names will be showing and new products can be inserted into the new category names.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us through our contact form in your account.

Yes as they make changes the new categories will show in the feeds, however these are major changes and it will take awhile to complete. So the current feeds are not showing what the final structure will be.

This is just starting so it might take several day's to finish. I'll make an announcement in this thread when everything is done.

Ok please let us know when its all done.

Is it working ok for the most part now.

Im using depotnet and they have updated my datafeed and it added the new catagorys with the old catagorys.

Also all the new catagorys are not showing any product.

Like when you go to Dildos now and a sub cat no product listed and its like that with every new catagory.

Problems with Depotnet will need to be addressed by them. I have no idea how they operate their systems.

well I think they load there datafeed just like any of us would.

I had them wipe out the catagorys and products and reload the datafeed and that did fix it.

When you load the datafeed does it take out the old catagorys and put in the new ones?

I think the new structure. Nice and clean! to much information at first is to much for some customers. Have to real them in first.

Thanks,
Ken

These are settings / choices made by each person / setup ... you can choose to add only / modify / delete empty / etc ... it is more dependent on the software you use / code you write

So there is no 'answer' to the question, that is why Mike said you have to ask depotnet ... they wrote your code ...

I do have a choice in my shopping cart to leave items that are no longer in the datafeed and I do have it that way. I was thinking if I add items not in the feed it would get removed but maybe thats seperate.

I can change that to remove items no longer in the datafeed and I bet it would change the catagorys.

I just started out with them so I had them clean the datafeed out and reload it and its all there now.

Hey Mike just a thought on the new catagorys.

What if you have a catagory for womans sex toys.

like under extras you have the pussy pumps and pelvic stuff that could go under womans sex toys.

I guess theres a lot of items that could go under that catagory lol

Hello Ken,

Yes most sex toys are for women, they're so demanding! Just kidding to all women who read this.

Anyway for most shopping carts you can add categories and move products. Don't know what this procedure would be like for Depotnet, however they should be able to setup a "Women Sex Toys" category if you want it.
